At Buena Vista Road Animal Hospital, we have the capability of and focus on performing point of care tests to arrive at potential diagnoses more rapidly. “Lumps and bumps” are undesirable – they can range from being unsightly and harmless such as cysts, to the more complex and serious such as tumors. To help us differentiate this, as a first step we perform a needle biopsy (Fine Needle Aspirate) during which procedure, a cell sample is collected with a small needle and that is processed and examined under a microscope. The results will be discussed with you and a plan formulated to help your pet.
Blood tests such as Complete Blood Counts (CBC), blood chemistries and urinalyses are regularly performed in house and results available within 45 minutes. This facilitates arriving at a diagnosis quickly and efficiently.
